If your a fan of Ansel Adams you would know he discovered the zone system 10 shades from white to black and his idea of a perfect photo was that it must contain the 10 shades, again i feel your blacks are too over done and there are no whites in this, compositions fine, but i think so much has been over done.

Thank you so much for the extremely useful observations, I have read of the zone system, but as my work portrays have far from mastered it. Are there any good resources you would recommend to look further into it? Simon

G'Day simon ansel adams put out 3 books which you can still buy off amazon 1 was the camera another was the print and the other was the negative the print for you would be of valuable information... you must try to remember to get detail in your shadows as well as your highlights as you know ansel shot in film and I'm still using film so with digital it should be even easier to achieve. If i do scans I always do low contrast scans and it gives me detail in these areas and then I finish the image in photoshop if there's no detail in a certain area you can't correct it. There's also a lot of books on amazon with a wealth of knowledge that would be useful to you.... geoff..... hope I've been of some help

I really like the undulating form of the landscape and the ominous feel that comes from the cloud formation and the use of black and white.
